Gonza Tacos Y Tequila is a friendly Colombian restaurant with two convenient locations: Wake Forest location by The Factory and a North Raleigh location in Greystone Village off of Lead Mine Road. It has a variety of authentic Colombian dishes including Enchiladas Con Mole, Chilaquiles and their famous Mexican Flag.

The Tacos come in many varieties, Pollo (chicken), Carne (steak), Pescado (fish), Callo de Hacha (scallops), Camaron (shrimp), Tinga Chicken, Pastor (pork with pineapple), Carnitas (pork) and Vegetarianos (vegetarian). Some favorites are the Mexican Flag, the Chile Relleno and the Nachos Gabachos.

The Mexican Flag is a 3-enchilada dish with steak, chicken and pinto beans. Each Enchilada is covered with either mexican cream sauce, chipotle sauce or habanero sauce. The Mexican Flag is a savory and spicy dish with tasty meat and beans inside.

Chile Relleno is a Poblano Pepper stuffed with meat or veggies, mexican cream sauce, pico de gallo, black beans, cheese and avocado. It has a hint of spice that is neutralized by the stuffing.

The Nachos Gabachos are traditionally made with Tinga Chicken, Cheese, Pico de Gallo, Guacamole and Mexican Cream Sauce smothered over a pile of Tortilla Chips. These are completely savory and have a little “kick” to add flavor.

If you happen to see a woman sitting on a shelf, give her a tip and get ready for a surprise. You can dance under the floating stars and grab a bobblehead while you wait for your table. Gonza, himself, may stop by and take your picture for the Tacos Y Tequila Facebook page. The atmosphere is upbeat and great for people of any age.

You will never be disappointed by the service at Gonza’s; the waiters are eager to help, Gonza and Carlos, the owners, will greet you as if you are family and the rest of the staff is more than willing to help with anything you may need.

Bring the kids to play with bubbles, yummy kid’s food and for facepainting on Friday nights. They can run around outside while you wait for a table, or get their face painted and become one with the theme of the restaurant.

Take a look at the intricate artwork all over the walls, you can see the Colombian culture through the images. The music blasts so loud you can barely hear, just as part of the enthusiastic ambiance. People everywhere filled with adrenaline make the pace quick and exciting. The only complaint you will hear is that it is too loud, but once you get used to the noise it is part of the thrill of the Gonza experience.

From Tacos to Tequila and everything in between, this restaurant is the real Colombian deal.
