The class of 2014 is wrapping up their final days of high school, but there are a few more things they can look forward to at LRHS. One is the Class of 2014 graduation reception.

This year’s graduation reception will be held on June 5, the first Thursday of June. The location will be the LRHS cafeteria and it will be held from 6:30 to 9:00 pm.

Graduation Reception committee co-chairs Stephanie Yount and Jennifer Pair are switching it up this year and so far it has been a hit. Right around 1,000 people have replied a yes to the reception invitation. Of course, not everyone will be able to come, but this is a vast increase from last year.

This year’s reception will be accompanied by coffee, desserts, appetizers and other treats that local restaurants have catered for the event. The decor is slightly different from last year and won’t take up as much space, although it is promised to look just as nice as prior years. Music will be played throughout the evening also.

Invitations were sent out to every senior in April with an attached RSVP form to send back, so that adequate food and drinks will be available for everyone. Announcements have been made recently to remind parents about their RSVP forms, since graduation is right around the corner.

When asked about the experience of planning such a big event at Leesville, Stephanie Yount expressed her enthusiasm about the upcoming event.

“I’m so excited about this year’s graduation reception. We want the class of 2014 to have the best reception experience they’ve ever had,” she said.

“The real fun for them will be seeing a lot of their friends and family to celebrate their ending high school careers. It’s been nice being able to put our own touch on things this year and we truly hope the seniors and their families will enjoy this special night.”
