Main Stage auditions: the final cut

Auditions for the honors theatre class, also known as Main Stage, were held this past week. The list of names of members for the 2015-2016 school year was posted a few hours after auditions were complete.

Auditions for the honors theatre class at Leesville, more commonly known as Main Stage, took place January 23 and 26 for the 2015-2016 school year.

Main Stage is the honors theatre class offered here at Leesville. However, it is an audition-only class, meaning you must audition for a spot in order to be eligible to take the class the following school year.

Those who were auditioning were required to fill out a form about themselves while waiting in the black box behind the auditorium. They were then called, one at time, to perform the monologue they had prepared. Once their audition was over, each student was allowed to leave or stay to watch the others while anxiously awaiting the list of members for the 2015-2016 class to be posted.

A few hours after the last auditions, Twitter was full of congratulations tweets and retweets as a picture of the list of new members was posted.

“I was ecstatic. I was so proud of myself and all the hard work I put into the audition process,” said Noah Czajkowski, a current sophomore, after spotting his name on the list of new members.

Main Stage puts together a show every fall and takes an annual trip every spring. Most of the students in the class also audition for the school’s fall play and spring musical each year.

“I’m excited [to be a part of Main Stage] because of all the people I’ll get to see/meet. I’ve never had classes with some of these people, but I’m already friends with a few of them and I couldn’t be more excited that they made it as well. I also can’t wait to meet Ms. Tarson, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for me in the theatre department,” said Czajkowski.

Although the auditions for Main Stage are complete and spots for the class have been filled, there are various opportunities for others to get involved in the Leesville drama department, such as auditioning for this year’s spring musical, Legally Blonde.
