On October 17, a swim and dive interest meeting was held in the weight room. Swimmers, from all grades, gathered to receive information about the new swim season.

In order for students to play in any sport, they must first receive their ticket to play. New paperwork is needed for each sports season and can be turned into room 1301. Students then pick up a band that they must wear to tryouts. Ticket to play was to be turned in on October 17-19.

Swim tryouts will be held on October 31 for sophomores, November 1 for freshman, November 2 for juniors and November 4 for seniors. Tryouts will be held at Optimist pool from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.

“Since a lot more people will be trying out the competition in the pool will push swimmers to do better. I feel like the tryouts should be good this year,” said Abby Toubren, Leesville senior and returning swim team member.

In past year, few, if any, cuts have been made. “Cuts will be made this year unlike previous years, they will be based on times from tryouts and previous season times,” said Jack Rogers, swim team coach.

The team will be posted outside of both Rodgers’ and Civitello’s room on November 5.

“There were a lot of people at the interest meeting this year, so hopefully our season will be even more successful than last year,” said Toubren,

“There is a lot of hype among returning swimmers for this years season. The girls won Cap 8 last year for the fourth year in a row. I think we are shooting for regional champs or even states,” said Toubren.

The first meet of the season will be on November 16.
