On Wed. March 17, Leesville’s Lady Pride soccer team defeated the Sanderson Spartans 4-0.
For the usually confident players, a few described the game as “nerve-racking” and were unsure how they would pull through.
The Sanderson Spartans, previously undefeated, were tough to beat.
“They have a really great team with high aspirations and ambition like we do,” said Dinkenor.
“Well, we were 0-0 at the first half of the game, and that’s the first time that’s happened during the season,” said Brooke Walsh, senior.
Somewhere along the way, however, the Lady Pride pulled through.
“We really started moving the ball well after that first part of the game,” said Walsh, who scored during the second half. “I think our confidence built up after we started nailing everything.”
Additional scores were provided by Stephanie Bronson, junior, Caroline Gentry, sophomore, and Rachel Hunter, junior.
“It was an exciting game,” said Dinkenor. “We went into the second half with a different gear, and scored four really good goals.”
The Lady Pride hopes to continue their winning streak with pursuit of winning another state championship.
