The Leesville Road High School Lady Pride softball team defeated three schools during their tournament over Spring Break. The games were held in Knightdale where the Pride crushed Southeast Raleigh 11-0, Enloe 10-0 and Millbrook 8-3.
A group of the outstanding players from each of the three teams were selected for the All Tournament Team, including MVP Brittany Belsher, junior, Katie Putnam, senior, Megan Sell, senior, Kaitlin O’shea, junior and Lindsay Jones, sophomore.
“It was really great to know that all of my hard work paid off when I made the all tournament team, I didn’t expect it at all so it was great to be recognized,” said Putnam.
During the Tournament the Lady Pride beat the Millbrook softball team, who were previously undefeated. “I hope beating Millbrook gave the girls something positive to look back on when obstacles arise,” said Coach Susan Tadlock.
Coach Tadlock owes the girl’s success to the emphasis she puts on team building and what each person can do to benefit the group along with, the mixture of veteran leaders and enthusiastic freshman the team has this year.
The softball season ends in May and their chances of doing well in the Cap 7 tournament are looking excellent.
