Coach Dinkenor held a meeting on Thursday, December 1 for the upcoming 2012 boys soccer season. The season does not begin until next year, but Dinkenor wants to get a head start. At the meeting, the team discussed fitness, academics, and setting goals for the next season.
Dinkenor said, “We are learning from the 2011 season. The beginning of our season starts now.”
After an unfortunate loss in the second round of the state playoffs, the team is eager to get back at it. Dinkenor has already set up some fitness plans for the team. The JV team especially needs to lift weights and work hard these next nine months.
“As a group, we need to hit the weight room. We must be stronger, bigger, tougher,” said Dinkenor.
“The meeting was really productive. Coach Dink outlined what he wanted to see. He stressed the importance of grades and leaders to step up,” said Robert Allison, junior.
Although, the team is losing a number of talented players, Dinkenor still has high expectations for the 2012 season.
Allison said, “We are losing all of our really good seniors, but if we start working hard now, like we should, then we can overcome that.”
The varsity team last year has a successful season. If next year’s team wishes to follow that path and improve, they must start putting the work in now.
