Leesville band goes out with a bang

In Orlando, Florida, Leesville Road Symphonic Band took part in their last competition of the year.

The band swept away all other competitors, bringing home first place. They received ratings of four across the board with their superior performance.

“It was so much fun,” said Jessica Hackman, junior. “You get a rush of adrenaline before you play for the judges and everyone is still hyped after.”

“It was so thrilling to hear them call our name in first place. After working so hard all year, it was gratifying to see that our work had paid off,” said Stephen Bryant.

Leesville concert band also did well. They competed at the festival in Busch Gardens.

“We had a really good time,” said Megan Gillespie. “Competing is so much fun and winning is even better.”

While they did not come in first place, they did come in second for concert band with an excellent rating.

“It’s just so great to see them do well,” said Christopher Serina. “We worked hard and had fun doing it, and I can’t wait to see what they do next year.”
