St. Francis was hosting their annual Francis Fest and were happy to have Magee and Gorman play live music in their cafe. Francis Fest is a huge festival on the St. Francis campus filled with games, food and live performances. The people in charge of booking performances booked Magee and Gorman about a year ago to ensure they would be able to play at the festival this year.

Magee and Gorman do not need much to attract a crowd. Magee on the piano and Gorman on the guitar, along with both of them singing, was all it took to draw people in to listen. With the ability to play any song listeners named, the audience never hears songs repeated and grow bored.

The only time there was a quiet atmosphere in the cafe was when the two took a short break. But even then, both were walking around and interacting with everyone. Once they began playing again, people hung out and listened to them.

Gorman is a former music teacher at St. Francis. He is an idol to the young children who were lucky enough to have him as a teacher; and for a good reason. He was a fantastic teacher by finding a way to make students want to learn how to play music. A former student even decorated Gorman’s guitar with colorful and playful patterns, which Gorman continues to use throughout his performances.

Magee is well known in the St. Francis community as well. He, his siblings and even his cousins all went through the St. Francis school system. His performance with Gorman at Francis Fest was not his first performance on the campus so everyone knows who he is and the amazing talent he has.

They are both extremely passionate about music and their passion is evident in each and every one of their performances. Magee has a performance coming up on Friday, Nov 22 at Elon’s McCrary Theater at 7:30 pm. The performance will feature his original music and is one no one should miss.
