$5 date ideas

Many students are dating on a budget. It’s hard to balance a budget while paying for school and other vitals. In order to make budgeting easier, we have thought of several $5.00 date ideas for those who don’t have much money to spare.

The first date idea is a walk in a park. It is a beautiful and natural way to spend time with someone, not to mention it’s free. You can talk and walk and just enjoy the atmosphere and each other’s presence.

Another date idea is a dessert date. Dessert is the least expensive part of a meal, and it is also usually the favorite. Go out and treat yourself and her to a cheap treat. For example, Zest Cafe is the perfect place to go get a brownie for two.

You can go the the museum for free and spend the entire day going through fossils and exploring history and nature.

Also, the NC Museum of Natural Science and Nature Research and the NC Museum of History are in walking distance to The Bicentennial Mall, a big green field next to the NC State Legislative building. It is a perfect spot to have a picnic and lay down and watch the clouds float by. This is a cheap, if not free, way to spend a few hours or even a whole day.

If you don’t feel like going out, you can stay home and watch a movies on Netflix or for a few dollars from Redbox. A bowl of popcorn or ice cream is the perfect treat to share while you are curled up on the couch with your date.

Cooking dinner together can be a great way to learn about each other and enjoy each other’s company. Using items you already have at home, you can make a delicious dinner and in the process, get a little messy and have a blast.

The final idea for an inexpensive date is to stay home, turn on a slow song and dance. Sounds cheesy, but it can be romantic and fun at the same time. Twirling around the living room can be the best date you have ever been on or the worst if they continuously step on your feet.
