The Intern

‘The Intern’ is a comedy following a senior citizen, Ben Whitaker, who receives an internship at ‘About the Fit’ which is completely based on new technology. ‘About the Fit’ is a company that was created in 4 short months by a young mom, Jules Olston, who is in desperate need of relaxation in her life. The companionship this unlikely pair creates is certain to warm your heart.

Ben Whitaker, (Robert De Niro) is a 70-year-old widow, with nothing but time on his hands. After he has retired, and his children had children– he’s simply just bored…until an internship directed towards senior citizens becomes available for a company that relies completely on the Internet.

Played by Anne Hathaway, Olston is a busy, sleep deprived CEO who wastes absolutely no time when it comes to her business. However, that was also her eternal flaw– time.

When Whitaker and 3 other age appropriate young people accept their internship, they are assigned a task or person that they will shadow.

Whitakers happens to be assigned to, you guessed it, Olsten.

Ben, a man full of love that he’s just waiting to give to someone, and Olsten, whom wasn’t exactly fond of Whitaker, turn out to be the best of partners by the middle of the movie.

The ending is a clichè, but nonetheless, happy ending– everyone ends up where they were meant to be, and Olsten and Whitaker become the best of friends.

This heartwarming tale of two partners will have you smiling and laughing practically the whole film.

Not only does it pull at the heartstrings of love we all have for the senior citizens, but it’s entertaining and does not lose sight of the overall point of the film while trying to keep it “cute”.

If you’re looking for a movie to see on a Friday night with a date, this movie may not be for you. But, if you are in need of a Redbox movie or a movie to watch with your family, I highly suggest this film.
