Students start registering for classes

Previously, students received a class registration packet to begin thinking about what classes they want to take for the 2016-2017 school year. In the packet are all the class options including a recommended sequence chart for what level classes the student should take. February 16-24 counselors worked with juniors, sophomores, and freshmen in small groups to begin class registration.

PowerSchool became an important part of this process, students needed to know their login information. Teachers have entered their recommendations through the website. Also, between February 22 and March 6, PowerSchools is open to students to register for their classes.

“Overall, registration is important because it is an opportunity for students to thoroughly think about their class choices and make informed decisions that will ultimately impact the next few years of their life,” said Ms. Muhs, a Leesville guidance counselor for last names between Mi-Sc.

Leesville guidance counselors like Ms. Muhs played an important role when students are registering. “I evaluate every transcript by hand and write down the classes that students need to take for the remainder of their high school time and attend a 4 year university or college,” added Ms. Muhs.

In order to graduate, there are requirements that can be found here. Every student needs a total of 26 credits. The 2016-2017 school year has some new classes they are now offering. Some of the courses are: principles of human inheritance, geography, health team relations, and more.

Class registration is an important step for the following year(s) of high school.
