Colleges and military representatives visit Leesville throughout the year. The visits are held in the Career Center or in the Media Center conference room

Throughout the spring and fall, colleges around the country host events at Leesville sponsored by the Career Center. The Career Development Coordinator, Ms. Canada, works with School-to-Career (STC) to provide these events.

College visits are open to juniors and seniors and take place during SMART lunch in the Media Center Conference room or the Career Center in room 102. If a student wishes to attend a college visit, they can register on SignUp genius. To register, a student must have a SignUp genius account. Students can then decide which event to attend by submitting a registration form on the SignUp genius webpage.

Upcoming college visits include High Point University, University of Alabama, Vanderbilt University, University of California- Berkeley, Appalachian State University, UNC Charlotte, ECU, Hampden-Sydney College, UNC Pembroke, Campbell University, and Queens College.

“The Career Center helps me schedule college visits and helps me learn about the careers available at my chosen schools… I set up an appointment with ECU Honors college. They provided information on when to apply and the application process,” said Haley Hawkins, a senior at Leesville

If a student is interested in the military, military recruiters will typically visit Leesville on the fourth week of each month. Students can sign up through the SignUp genius. The different branches that visit Leesville are the Air force, Army, Army National Guard, Marines, and Navy.

All military branches require the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), an aptitude test that will help determine a student’s natural abilities and to make an informed military career choices. A student’s score will determine what jobs they qualify for in the military.

The ASVAB will be administered at Leesville November 18, 2016 from 7:25 to 10:15 at the Multi-Purpose room in the Murphy building. 10th through 12th grade students can sign up using Signup genius.

No matter what path a student chooses, whether it be college, military, or career oriented, the Leesville Career Center is beneficial to everyone.
