Oxford Languages defines spirituality as “the quality of being concerned with the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things” by . While this is true, people can view spirituality in a simpler matter of an experience or a spectrum. Every being on this Earth has a physical body, but the mind and soul on the inside are what creates our own existence. The events happening in our day to day lives influence our spirit and lead us to shape our outlook. Spirituality is a spectrum: some people find connections through religions, while others find connections within themselves, and so on. People on their spiritual path often look to superior gods, powers, and consciousnesses for guidance. There is no single or right way to spiritual practice– everyone has their own unique journey that is their job to discover.

There are an endless number of ways to practice spirituality or get in touch with your spiritual capacity. Here are a few of the most common and simple ways to interact with your spirit and keep your life balanced:

Meditation

Meditation is a great way to consciously and unconsciously get in touch with your spiritual self. By sitting in a comfortable position and focusing on your breath you can allow your mind to step away from the troubles of the physical world and drift into a realm of relaxation. Meditation can also help to release stress, increase creativity, and overall help you improve in many aspects of life. There are many apps, sounds, and videos that people can utilize in the meditation process to help you unwind and feel at ease. Manifestation

Spirituality involves taking control of your actions for the benefit of yourself– that’s where manifestation comes in. Many believe that if you take into account a specific experience or outcome you want to come true and trust that it will come into existence, then it will. Manifesting is the act of attracting your ambitions and goals through continuous thought and belief of the intended result. The idea you desire does not yet exist in the physical form, making it spiritual. Manifesting can bring about the spiritual energies necessary to bring hopes to life. Many religions have developed manifesting, as it is almost an act of prayer, making it have an even stronger connection to spiritual gods. Trusting in the Universe and believing that what you manifest will come to you if it is best for you is important. For more information on manifestation and how to do it the correct way, click here.

Chakras

Chakras are the seven main energy centers of the body. A blocked chakra leads to a deficiency in the qualities it provides. When the chakras are open, energy readily flows through the body and brings the spirit, mind, and body to a balance. There are seven chakras from the top of your body to the bottom–the crown chakra, the third eye chakra, the throat chakra, the heart chakra, the solar plexus chakra, the sacral chakra, and the root chakra. Each chakra has a specific color, location, and qualities  associated with it.

The root chakra is red, located at the bottom of the spine, and it focuses on stability and security.

          • The sacral chakra is orange, located in the lower abdomen, and it focuses on pleasure, emotions, and creativity.

          • The solar plexus chakra is yellow, located in the upper abdomen, and focuses on confidence, power, and self-esteem.

          • The heart chakra is green, located in the center of the chest, and it focuses on love, empathy, and affection.

          • The throat chakra is light blue, located in the throat, and it focuses on communication, understanding, and speaking freely.

        • The third eye chakra is dark blue, located on the forehead, and it focuses on enlightenment, personal spirituality, and higher levels of consciousness.

         • Lastly, the crown chakra is purple, located at the top of the head, and it is the connection point of the physical body with the soul and divinity.

There are many different ways to unblock chakras, such as meditation, yoga, and centering your breath on the location you wish to unblock. Everyone’s chakras are different, they can take more or less effort to open and have different levels of importance in someone’s life. Crystals

Spiritual practices can often incorporate the use of crystals. Many believe that crystals have healing and strengthening properties, making them helpful in spiritual processes and just everyday life activities. Crystals can release a beacon of positive energy when placed on a specific body part, held in a hand, or worn in some form. There are many different crystals, with each having its own color and physical properties that have their own benefits. Crystals of certain colors are often used in the process of opening chakras. For example, if someone wanted to focus on opening their root chakra, they could hold a red crystal in their hand.
