Students who are members of the National Honor Societies and National Achiever Society can apply to be tutors for their required tutoring hours. Many students are taking advantage of this.
Angel Kasyoka, a senior tutor, explained how it felt to be a tutor.. “It feels good, I think it’s a really good way of helping other students and it feels good when you are able to help somebody else understand something.”
Maria Spragins, another senior tutor, said, “Yeah I agree. It’s definitely a way to contribute to the community in a positive way.”
They are both members of the National Honor Society and must achieve 3 hours of tutoring a year. That’s not the only reason why they are tutoring. Kasyoka said she likes to tutor people. “I’ve also tutored people know not for hours. Somebody that might need help on a whim,” said Kasyoka
If you are interested in becoming a tutor, you can sign up through Sign-up Genius. You can also sign up for tutoring lessons if you go to room 203 during both lunches Monday-Friday. If you want more information, you can email ehensler@wcpss.net or karwood@wcpps.net.
