Leesville Road High School held Awards Night in the auditorium on May 9, 2022. Awards Night is dedicated to honoring students who are recognized by their teachers in a specific class.
The two types of awards are the Student of the Year award and the PRIDE award. Students can be nominated for multiple awards.
Grayson Trout, junior, won the Student of the Year award for Creative Writing II. “It was really nice to see so many people come out to support the students, and I was honestly surprised at the kindness of a lot of families,” said Trout.
“People I didn’t even know congratulated me and I saw some people outside of school there as well,” said Trout. “It was fun to experience support for my accomplishments.”
Not only students who were nominated by their teachers were nominated, Junior Marshals were as well. Junior Marshals are the top ten students from the junior class and ten students by application who help seniors in their end of year activities like Senior Assembly and graduation.
Nadara Albanese, a counselor at Leesville, honored the Junior Marshals on Awards Night. “It was an absolute pleasure to step in for Mr. Greene to announce the names of our 2022 Junior Class Marshals at the LRHS Awards Ceremony on Monday night,” typed Albanese over email.
“It is always rewarding to see deserving students be recognized for all their hard work in school especially during such trying times.”
Congratulations to all the students who were honored! We hope to see the same and new faces next Awards Night.
