Football Team Rolls Past Southern Durham 

The Pride was able to take care of business to earn a 37-18 win against Southern Durham.This gave Leesville their 4th straight win and a 4-0 record. 

After a slow start, Leesville took an eight point lead early in the second quarter thanks to a touchdown catch by Josiah Gary. Throughout the remainder of the quarter, the teams would go back and forth scoring touchdowns. Leesville took a commanding 21-12 lead into halftime.

The Pride opened up the second half scoring with a field goal from Roan Naik. Leesville was now up 12 with less than 2 quarters to go. That’s when things started to go south. 

A score from Southern Durham shrunk Leesville’s lead to just six points. Leesville wasn’t able to respond with a score and gave the ball back to Southern Durham. Their offense took the ball all the way down to the Leesville 3 yard line.

That was where the tides turned in favor of The Pride when Gary took an interception back for touchdown. 

Thanks to a huge night from Gary, the Pride were able to take care of business. Gary had a long touchdown to open up the scoring, as well a pick-six to put the game away.  

Late in the 4th quarter, Gary suffered a shoulder injury. He Returned to practice on September 14 which is a terrific sign for The Pride.

Leesville takes on Wake Forest this Friday in their biggest test of the season thus far. Leesville will need every ounce of production from their star players to walk out of Wale Forest with a win. 

Leesville continues to be “road warriors” and looks to cap off a 5-game road trip with a win against the Cougars of Wake Forest this Friday night.
