Boston College Stuns NC State on Senior Day

NC State dropped arguably its worst loss under Dave Doeren, Pack head coach. The No. 16 ranked Wolfpack suffered a tragic loss against Boston College on senior day.

NC State went into their week 11 matchup with an impressive 7-2 record and a 16 home-game winning streak. On a day in which the Pack had 30 seniors walking, a sell out home field advantage, and was favored by 19.5 points, disaster struck.

After an emotional senior day ceremony, NC State was ready to cruise into the record books with a 17th consecutive home-game win, which would have been a program record.

The first quarter went as planned for the wolfpack. Two MJ Morris touchdowns secured the Wolfpack with a 14-7 lead14-7 lead.

In the second quarter, NC State was unable to find the endzone and only scored 3 points thanks to a Chris Dunn’s field goal. NC State led 17-7 heading into halftime.

The Pack came out of the locker room flat on offense. The Wolfpack put up 3 points in the third quarter, while Boston College put up 7, which cut the Wolfpack lead to just 3. 

Throughout the remainder of the game, NC State was unable to generate any more offense while the defense gave up a last second TD pass from Boston College quarterback, Emmett Morehead. Boston College got its first lead of the game with just 14 seconds remaining.

After attempting a hook and ladder trick play in the final seconds, NC State was stopped short and lost its first home game in over 2 years. 

Unfortunately, NC State’s loss against Boston College dropped them out of the AP Poll top 25.
