Leesville Needs New Chairs

Different schools throughout Wake County have updated their furniture. Even Pine Hollow Middle School up the road has newly improved chairs.

Students at Leesville often complain about the hard, uncomfortable chairs supplied. Sitting in these chairs for 7 hours a day becomes irritating.

Students complain frequently about their backs hurting after sitting in the small, rock-hard chairs. “I think the chairs are terrible, they are so uncomfy. After sitting in them for a while, my back starts to hurt. The ones with the desk attached are the worst,” said Diana Higgins, a sophomore.

When taking a test or working on an assignment, students prefer to feel comfortable. The chairs do not provide a nice work setting.

Leesville should spend its money on upgraded chairs for its students. It would allow students to feel more relaxed and comfortable in class, which calls for a better learning experience.

School chairs have a major impact on students ‘ ability to concentrate. The more comfortable the students are the more they focus on the lesson being taught.

Studies show that poor classroom furniture negatively affects students’ time in the classroom. It causes lack of attention, poor concentration, poor memory, and lower achievement levels.

The importance of school furniture is not recognized as it should be. New chairs at Leesville will improve students’ learning experience.

The chairs students sit in throughout the school day are extremely outdated. Most are from when Leesville first opened in 1993.
