The Carolina Hurricanes dominated the New Jersey Devils in game 1 and came out with a 5-1 win.
Although the Canes had played well in their first round matchup against the Islanders, they were still waiting for that offensive explosion that Carolina fans had gotten used to seeing over the course of the regular season. Seth Jarvis and company were able to deliver a special performance in game 1.
Five different Hurricanes players found the back of the net during Wednesday night’s game. The most impressive stat of the game is the fact that Carolina scored all of their goals in even strength. Although the Canes did go 0-3 on the power play, they forced turnovers and created good scoring chances during 5 on 5.
AS great as the offense was, Hurricanes’ goaltender Freddie Andersen was just as good. He let in just 1 goal while recording 17 saves which was good for a .944 save percentage. Andersen has made Carolina’s last 2 starts at goalie.
Game 2 will take place on Friday, May 5 at 8PM. The game will be at PNC Arena and will air on TNT.
