LRHS Rising 9th Grade Open House

The Leesville Liaisons are hosting a Rising 9th Grade Open House on February 8 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

At the Open House, incoming freshmen will hear a presentation from Principal Jacobs and several staff members about Leesville’s wide variety of courses, and how they can plan for them.

Visitors will also talk to various members of the student body who will participate in the event. These students will describe their own experiences with arts, CTE classes, extracurriculars, and other aspects of Pride life.

Ms. Worthey, assistant administrative intern and the event coordinator, said, “Our goal is to get the class of 2028 excited to join us here at Leesville.”

She also emphasized that the event was not just for students but for their families, too. “For the parents, we want them to know that we care about their student, that we prioritize their academics, but we’re also here to support them as we navigate this next chapter for their student,” said Worthey.

The transition from middle school to high school can be nerve-racking.

Natalia Cesky, freshman, said, “[The most stressful part of starting high school] was being able to manage my time better and… get organized.”

However, Cesky attended the freshman orientation event last year, also hosted by the Liaisons, and it was beneficial to her. “It helped me know… where all my classes will be, especially second semester… knowing the general area of where everything was,” said Cesky.

The Rising 9th Grade Open House will provide an experience similar to Cesky’s, where incoming freshmen and their families can get to know the school, and in doing so, ease their worries about this new stage of their lives.
