The National Honor Society (NHS) is a national organization in American high schools, which is a prestigious accomplishment for students. NHS recognizes students´ excellence in scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Leesville students can now apply for NHS for the 2024-2025 school year. The club is available for rising juniors and seniors.
The description of the NHS application process can be found under ¨Pride News,¨ on the LRHS website. This document will lead users to a Canvas link, where students can access and submit their applications.
Applications consist of multiple parts, including service hour descriptions, recommendations, an essay, and administrative information and signatures.
Applicants are required to participate in leadership and service projects, before and during the club´s involvement. The first part of the application contains 5 forms where students have the opportunity to explain and provide information on their previous volunteer activities.
The second section of the application is centered on 2 teacher recommendations. These recommendations are used to highlight the student´s character and personality.
The next part of the NHS application is an optional, but highly recommended, reflection essay. There are 5 topics that students should pick to address in 250 words or less.
Finally, students are asked to fill out a Google form consisting of personal information, emergency contacts, and acknowledgments of annual requirements.
As students fill out the 2024-2025 school year application, they are advised to email Mrs. Langlois (slanglois@wcpss.net) with any questions or concerns.
