Leesville’s 2024-2025 Meet the Teacher happened after school on Wednesday, September 11. Parents came to the school to talk to their student’s teachers.
Parents started in the auditorium where Leesville’s principal, Mrs. Jacobs, and other faculty talked about how the event was structured, what parents could expect, and the importance of Meet the Teacher. After an introduction, they were let go to walk around the buildings.
Each teacher was in their room talking to the parents about methods they use to teach, the material they talk about in class, and what students will learn in the future.
Some parents went to see how the teachers were face-to-face and to assess them personally. Some went to recognize and catch up with past teachers to see how they were doing.
Every teacher prepared to meet the parents. “We had to make a 1-page document that had our contact information and our course description so that parents could have it for reference,” said Ms. Tabron, English teacher.
This event was important because the adults got to make a connection with the teachers and tell their kids what they thought of them.
The building was full of adults who left with course and teacher contact information. “I met about 20-30 different families. They were all super nice and everybody seemed to get a lot out of it,” said Mr. Vermette, World History teacher.
At Meet the Teacher, everybody got to socialize, greet new people, and see some of the other parents.
