Applications for Wake Tech Career and College Promise

Leesville offers many opportunities for students. One program all students can take is called the NC Career and College Promise (CCP) program through Wake Tech.

The CCP application opened September 24, 2024, and will last until November 15, 2024.

Juniors and seniors mostly take CCP,  which offers eligible high school students a chance to gain college credits by substituting in an elective class. Freshmen and sophomores can take them, but it is harder to apply due to more requirements necessary, such as AIG scores.

Many students in this program earn dual credits, meeting high school requirements with college courses.

“It was easier to get college credits instead of taking AP classes here,” said Hannah Morris, senior. Some college courses are easier than APs at Leesville.

This program offers over 40 academic programs, saving families money on tuition and future college stress. CCP prepares students for a college experience and boosts admission profiles and college applications.

“I went to the Wake Tech website and it gave me step-by-step instructions on how to join CCP, so it made it easier for me,” said Tyler Cook, sophomore.

There are many steps to join CCP and they are important for students to follow closely. Students must meet the necessary requirements. Juniors and seniors need an unweighted GPA of at least 2.8. The first step is to watch the informational video on CCP and figure out what path a student would like to pick.

The next steps include asking the Dean of Students, Mr. Greene, to request a transcript. Pathway eligibility checks are required to make sure students qualify for the course before choosing a path. Once students fill out the application thoroughly, they must notify Mr. Greene via his email, egreene@wcpss.net.

After students complete these steps, CCP will provide orientation and eLearning, then students must register for future courses. These steps are important to sign up for CCP.
