Many animals located in shelters are not getting the resources they need, and the goal of the Animal Aid and Awareness Club is to provide the needed assistance needed to sheltered animals, and to spread awareness of animal welfare.
Megan Rivera, sophomore, said, “It’s a club that offers a lot of service opportunities like volunteering at animal shelters and donating things.”
Each month, the club offers the opportunity for students to complete service hours and create a difference.
Animal shelters play a vital role in providing homes and care for abandoned and mistreated animals. They ensure that these animals get the proper care and medical attention that they need.
Grace Trabusli, sophomore, said, “I guess I just really like animals, so when they need help, I want to help them.”
Additionally, shelter volunteers often make connections within the animal care industry, which can open doors for future job opportunities or internships in veterinary care.
Sophie Kneckel, sophomore, said, “I was hoping to shadow someone that works at a vet by next year. It will get me service hours and will hopefully prepare me later for future jobs.”
Shelters also educate people about how to provide the best care for their own pets, and create opportunities for animals to find loving homes.
Joining the Animal Aid and Awareness club is helping students learn necessary skills like communication and time management, which are beneficial in any career. It can also help build a sense of responsibility and empathy, which are qualities that are crucial in careers like healthcare, education, and veterinary work.
