In September, the scholarships listed on the LRHS scholarship bulletin include the UNC Morehead Cain Scholarship, NC State Park Scholarship, UNC-Charlotte Levine Scholars program, UNC-Chapel Hill Thomas Wolfe Scholarship, and the Davidson College John Montgomery BELK Scholarship.
Any highschool seniors are eligible to apply to these scholarships, and the deadlines range from as early as October 1 to late November.
“I am applying to the Morehead-Cain scholarship at UNC Chapel Hill, as well as other scholarships… I think scholarships are a good opportunity to put on your resume or application, as well as help you pay for schools or colleges that you might not be able to afford otherwise,” said Nadia Ferjani, senior.
Financial aid is also a vital part in potentially helping pay for college. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is available to any student seeking federal financial aid. The FAFSA helps determine how much money awarded they will not have to pay back through scholarship, grants, work-study funding and more, reducing the financial stress of paying for higher education.
