Leesville wraps up a successful volleyball season

The Leesville Women’s Varsity Volleyball season is coming to a close, with only one regular season game left to play. They opened the season on August 15 at Rolesville High School for their first non-conference game, resulting in a Leesville 3-0 shutout win.

Overall, Leesville’s record is 13-6, however, they have been playing extremely well in conference play. Their only loss is to Cardinal Gibbons, leaving them with a 8-1 conference record, ranking them second in the Cap-6 Conference.

Cadhla O’Dwyer, junior and right-side attacker, said, “My favorite memory from this season is probably riding the bus back to the school after away games because only a few people take the bus to come and get their cars. It’s fun to sit on the bus after hopefully a win and celebrate and talk with everyone.”

Their remaining game is at Cardinal Gibbons. The team they previously conceded to on September 26 in a quick three set loss. They rematch on October 15, this time playing at Cardinal Gibbons.

Emily Mauro, senior and setter, reflects on the season. She said, “My senior season has been really good, it feels like it is going by really fast. We’ve been pretty good this year, with our only loss to Gibbons in conference. We’re working really well as a team, and I think we have good team chemistry and get along really well together ”

Since Leesville is ranked second in their conference, they have a guaranteed spot in the playoffs — regardless of the outcome of October 15th’s results. The match schedule for the Cap-6 Conference playoffs has yet to be finalized or released.

Keep an eye out for the schedule release and be sure to show your support for the team going into playoffs!
