The Leesville men’s JV basketball team has been doing well this season. They are currently undefeated with a 5-0 score.
The JV team has 7 freshman and 8 sophomores on the team, while varsity has mainly juniors and seniors.
They usually play 2 games a week and practice in the auxiliary gym the rest of the days. The men’s JV team practices either from 2:30pm to 4:30pm or 4:30pm to 6:30pm. This depends on if the women’s JV or Varsity, or men’s Varsity has a game.
Paul Ingram, the head coach, leads practices and games. The practices consist of lots of conditioning with practicing in-game offensive and defensive plays.
“We all have the attitude of winning and that’s what helps us play better as a team,” said Joey Pinder, sophomore.
The team has been doing good, but there could be changes. “We need to work on our defense and we need to make sure we’re getting rebounds as a team,” said Brody Paden, sophomore.
Some players get pulled up to play every couple of games. This means they can play both JV and Varsity games. Although they cannot play on the same day, they could go to one JV game on Tuesday, and a varsity game on Friday. This happens because there are not enough roster spots in varsity or to help developing players on JV get more playing time before they play their first season on varsity only.
The next game is on Thursday, December 19.
