Leesville High School Key Club’s First Holiday Toy Drive

Leesville’s Key Club is hosting their first toy drive until December 19. Kids in Western NC, who are still feeling the effect of Hurricane Helene, will receive the collected toys.

The gifts should be appropriate for babies all the way up to teeangers.

Kate Simpson, senior, said, “Legos, even good books, baby toys, barbies or dolls are good gifts.”

In addition to these gifts, the Key Club suggests stuffed animals, board games, and toy cars.

Key Club is hosting a meeting on Wednesday, December 18 and will have the donation boxes for all attendees to easily drop off their toys.

All donations should be new or gently used, unwrapped and dropped off in room 255 before 2:30 pm on Thursday, December 19.

From there, Angus Barn will collect the donation boxes and take them to be distributed around Western NC.

Key Club is offering a tradeoff for students — one toy donation = one hour of service. There will be a maximum of two hours earned from participating in the event.

Even a small donation can bring love and joy into a child’s Christmas. The people in Western NC have lost a lot this year, and Leesville students have the opportunity to help children end the year on a positive note.

Ian Sharp, sophomore, said, “Christmas is a special time of year and there’s kids who don’t have access to toys. The magic of Christmas brings hope to those kids who might be in a rough situation.¨

Donate to the Key Club Toy Drive before Thursday, December 19 to help fellow North Carolinians.
