Thursday, November 21, 2024, the Dance ensemble and dance team took the stage to perform in their holiday concert. The dancers performed many pieces all featuring holiday music.
“I loved them all, it’s hard to pick a favorite piece because I know so many of the kids, some for th energy, some for the creativity, and some for all of the above,” said Cary Casterline, staff at Leesville Road Middle School.
Casterline is the dance educator at LRMS and has taught many of these students. She attends many of the high school dance concerts to see these dancers perform.
“I really love the chipmunk dance I was in because it was really fun, exciting, and different from a lot of the dances that I’ve been in before,” said Mary Bradley Dalton, sophomore.
Dalton is one of the many students involved in the concert that Casterline taught. “I loved getting to see my past students perform and getting to support a good cause,” said Casterline.
Money raised through this concert goes towards the dancer’s NYC trip in the spring. Audience members were asked to buy candy cane grams for a few dollars to help with the cause and attend good berries afterward, where proceeds were going to LRHS Dance.
Even with all the excitement around it, the dances themselves featured amazing choreography to festive music like We Need A Little Christmas, Last Christmas, My Only Wish, and Winter Wonderland.
“They should [attend dance ensemble events] because it supports the dance program and we’re all very talented dancers, I think, and they deserve your love and support,” said Dalton.
Dance Team will next perform at Leesville’s home basketball game, and the Dance Ensemble will next perform at their winter dance concert in January.
