At Leesville Road high school, there are two lunch periods: A lunch and B lunch. A lunch takes place between 10:31 am and 11:06 pm. Meanwhile, B lunch takes place between 12:07 pm and 12:42 pm.
The two lunches both have different advantages and disadvantages for different reasons.
Some students prefer B lunch because they feel like A lunch is too early in the morning and too close to breakfast time.
El Madre Omerani, freshman, said, “I feel like with A lunch I just ate too recently and I’m not hungry yet. It’s too close to when I was home and had breakfast.”
B Lunch has some benefits. These include that students feel like it’s at a more reasonable time to eat lunch and makes the day feel like it goes by quicker.
Breon McRae, junior, said, “B lunch is at the perfect time, because just as I get hungry, it’s time for lunch… I feel like with B lunch the day goes by so much quicker, because after lunch there is only one more class left before school is over.”
On the other hand, some people argue that they prefer A lunch for certain reasons. One reason is that students feel like it breaks up the day and gives them a break from class just as they need one.
Kaleigh Arnett, sophomore, texted, “I prefer A lunch because it gives us an even break in between classes. You go to your first two classes, then have lunch, and then you finish your last two classes. It gives me a good break from thinking right when I need one.”
A student’s third period teacher determines what lunch they are assigned. The list of what classes have A lunch or B lunch changes every semester.
