There are many different types of people at Leesville, and with those different types of people come their styles and varying opinions on what to wear and what not to wear.
Some people prefer thrifting and some prefer shopping at popular stores like Lululemon. The school is a melting pot of different styles and fashion trends.
High school can help shape may of the people in it, especially in terms of fashion and expressing style. But, there is also another element of influence that comes into play at many schools — social media.
Students may pick an outfit based on a Pinterest board, the latest TikTok market item, or what their favorite Instagram influencer wore the day before. “Tik Tok, everyday wear, and my mood throughout the day impact my style,” said Valeigh Houser, senior.
As a student, the majority of the week is spent at home and school. “Yeah, I would say that seeing other people in the hallways has influenced my style,” said Houser. The people in these environments can influence students in more ways than one regarding their tastes because of how often students are around each other.
Family also has a huge impact on how people dress and how their style has formed over the years. “I’d say my sister influences my style. She’s got good style and just dresses better than most people,” said Dominic Cook, sophomore.
Many people agree that school is a place where comfy clothes like sweatpants and sweatshirts are the best, and others dress up and have fun with their outfits. “It depends on the day. If it’s a regular day, I’ll wear sweatpants. But, if I’m going somewhere nice I’ll wear jeans and a graphic tee,” said Cook.
With different tastes in clothes comes different tastes in where to shop. “Pac Sun, Altered State, and Lululemon are my favorite stores,” said Sydney Champion, a sophomore.
Knowing a person’s favorite store can tell you a lot about the clothes they wear and what they feel most comfortable in every day.
Overall, Leesville is a unique school with many different types of students and their specific tastes in clothes and fashion trends. The diversity in students’ styles creates a vibrant environment where students can freely express themselves.
