Hurry Up Tomorrow

The Weeknd just dropped his new album Hurry Up Tomorrow, and it already is making waves. This album is the final part to his trilogy following After Hours and Dawn FM  — it marks the end of his career under the alias “The Weeknd.”

Fans have been anticipating this album for months, and now that it’s here, it’s clear that he is closing out of this era with a bang.

His project blends his old dark R&B style with the new slick, synthesizing heavy sound he’s been known for lately. With 22 new tracks, the new album gives the listeners a ride of emotions ranging from heartbreak to moments of triumph and peace.

This may be one of the most polished and well put together albums The Weeknd has ever published, featuring influences from electronic and R&B, as well as psychedelic sounds.

One of the best parts about Hurry Up Tomorrow are the collaborations. The Weeknd teamed up with artists such as Travis Scott, Lana Del Ray, Playboi Carti and Future just to name a few.

These features bring a fresh energetic feel while also maintaining the composure of The Weeknd’s classic vibe. The legendary producer, Giorgio Moroder also contributed to the album, adding even more depth to The Weeknd’s tracks.

Critics are saying it has “moments of brilliance”  but also somehow “falls short” of some of his previous works. Many people think that this is because of a transition into another alias of The Weeknd’s.

However fans at Leesville Road High School are still very excited for his upcoming concerts, raving over their favorite songs and the merchandise drop at the concerts.

“I think The Weeknd’s new album is very different from what he’s done before but in a good way! I liked the way he transitioned in between every song and made it flow all together. I am going to the East Rutherford concert in New Jersey on June 5th, and I am most looking forward to seeing the merch booth and hearing him sing Open Hearts, as it’s my favorite song from the new album,” said Sophia Rodriguez, junior.

To accompany this album, he is also making a big move by turning the album “Hurry Up Tomorrow” into a psychological thriller releasing in May. The movie will star Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan and follows the storyline of a musician battling insomnia.

With his new album and movie release, The Weeknd is closing out a major chapter of his career with a big bang.
