LRHS changes the coach for women’s JV soccer team

For the spring 2025 season, Mr. Broer will be taking over coaching of the women’s JV soccer team.

Broer has coached at LRHS in the past, however he is new to this team. The ladies have welcomed him with open arms and are excited to start a new season.

Students who have had him as a teacher in the past like his teaching methods and can’t wait to see him as a coach.

Lyla Eisner, sophomore, said, “I haven’t been around his coaching style, but personally I really like his teaching style.”

Some of the girls don’t know Broer very well but are excited for the season. Coach Vega was their previous coach and he was fantastic, Mr. Broer will have some big shoes to fill.

Mia Leszczak, sophomore, said, “I think a lot of people there enjoyed [Vega’s] coaching style, and the fact that he pushed everyone to be as good as they can. I’m interested to see how Broer matches that.”

Being on the soccer team isn’t just about winning every game, it’s about making connections with people who could be lifelong friends. The coach has a very big influence on the team and how well they get along with each other.

Tyler McInnis, sophomore, said, “I think Mr. Broer is like a really good person. He is really good in the classroom, and he’s really good on the field. He knows how to connect with people, and he knows how to joke around and be serious at certain times.”

Being a coach for a team that was so successful in the past can be nerve racking but everyone knows Broer will do great.

The team is very excited for this upcoming season and can’t wait to get off to a running start with their brand new coach.
