The start of leesville’s spring sports season

The spring sports season will kick off this week as many teams are hosting tryouts. The following sports will be represented by an LRHS team in the spring:

  • Baseball
  • Softball
  • Men’s Tennis
  • Men’s Golf
  • Men’s Lacrosse
  • Women’s Lacrosse
  • Women’s Soccer
  • Men’s and Women’s Track
  • Stunt

Many spring sports include outside activities. With rain in the forecast, all tryouts are subject to change.

Baseball will begin their tryouts on February 12 at 5:15pm on the LRHS baseball field.

Men’s tennis will begin their tryouts on February 14 at 2:45pm on the LRHS tennis courts.

All athletes must be approved on DragonFly to be eligible for tryouts.

A new season can be a new start for athletes. It is an opportunity to meet new people, hone in on skills and challenge themselves.

Aidan Flynn, freshman and tennis player, said, “I want to meet a whole bunch of new people. It’s the first year of high school and I think it is going to be awesome.”

As the spring season approaches, athletes have been preparing to start the season off the best they can.

Some sports, like baseball and lacrosse, have been hosting workouts while others have been training on their own.

Avery Goodwin, junior and varsity softball player, said, “I’m on a travel team for softball so I’ve been doing that year round and I have a membership at a hitting place where I go and practice.”

Nate Gibbons, freshman and track athlete, said, “ [Training] really brings everything together.”

Tryouts are just the start to a new season of sports at Leesville.
