Leesville Road High School will hold an open house for rising 9th graders. It is on February 13 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, starting in the main lobby of the school.
During this time period, students will learn about the different classes the school offers. They will also learn about clubs and extracurricular activities that are available.
Rhyan Sauls, freshman, said, “I learned a lot last year at the open house like the different types of classes I could take and clubs too. There’s so many options you can choose from. They make it easy to join them because of the announcements.”
Counselors and Leesville Liaisons will overlook the process, helping the students who attend. They will lead them throughout the school and give information about certain classes.
The open house will be a beneficial meeting for people to attend. It will help students feel more comfortable in a new environment. Although the first day of school and the open house will be different, the open house will still lower students’ nerves on the first day.
Andrea Schuh, sophomore, said, “Even though there were a lot less people at the open house, it definitely still helped make me less nervous because I kind of knew where I was going.“
The 9th grade open house should continue to happen for all of the new rising freshmen in the years to come.
Marcus Cooke, freshman, said, “I think the open houses should keep happening because it helps [students] know where they are going and what the school looks like from the inside.“
Both parents and students should attend the open house. This way parents can learn about what their child’s learning environment is like, and students can get a better understanding of where classes are and what their day to day schedule would look like.
