Over the weekend, the first race of the season kicked off the season at Albert Park, where McLaren’s Lando Norris secured a stunning victory in wet conditions.
Starting from pole position, Norris managed the water logged track, fending off a late charge from Red Bull’s Max Verstappen who finished second.
Mercedes showed strong form with George Russell claiming third place. Rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli impressed the grandstands finishing fourth on his Formula One debut. His performance showed that Mercedes might be a serious contender for this season.
Ferrari’s highly anticipated debut with Lewis Hamilton did not go as planned. The seven time champion struggled all race long, finishing in 10th. His frustration was evident even remarking how he was worried about the competitiveness of the team this season.
The race was filled with incidents, including a crash by Isaak Hadjar before the race even began. Fernando Alonso, Carlos Sainz Jr, and several others also fell victim to the tricky conditions.
Oscar Piastri racing on home soil showed promise but fell short and finished ninth after going off track during the race.
McLarens surprise dominance has shaken up the champion outlook. As the teams prepare for the Chinese Grand Prix, this unpredictable start is foreshadowing a very thrilling season.
