Raising Cane’s, the popular Louisiana founded fast-food chain has announced its expansion to a new location in North Carolina in the fall. At 2420 Hillsborough Street, this location is just minutes away from NC State’s campus.
Raising Canes is known for their deliciously crispy chicken tenders, cole slaw, fries, texas toast, and signature sauce. The franchise has over 700 locations across the U.S, however North Carolina is only home to three locations.
As the second location in the research triangle to Chapel Hill, LRHS students are eager to have a Raising Cane’s location in Raleigh. “I love [Raising] Canes but driving all the way to Chapel Hill to get it is a lot of work. I’m really excited that there is a location coming closer to us,” said Tillie Noyes, senior.
A new location of the fast food chain will help reduce traffic to the Chapel Hill location and provide a closer and more convenient option for Raleigh residents. “Almost every time I’ve been to Canes, it has been super busy. [The restaurant] is two floors, but it’s still usually hard to find a space to sit, there’s so many people there all the time,” said Lily Fields, senior.
The new location for Raising Cane’s was previously owned by The Umami Asian Bistro and the historic Varsity Theatre on Hillsboro Street. Following the trend of the wildly popular Chapel Hill Raising Canes, the new restaurant is expected to feature NC State merchandise and decor throughout the restaurant due to its positioning just across the street from NC State University.
