Leesville students have begun the class selection process for the 2025-2026 school year. Current freshman students are required to select eight classes, four for each semester. Current sophomores and juniors can sign up for dual enrollment at Leesville and Wake Tech.
“For next year, I’m taking Spanish three, honors physics, AP Chemistry, Capital Prime, and Proficient Theater. And then obviously economics because it is required, and AP Literature,” said Lucy Johnson, junior.
Seniors do not need to sign up because this will be there last year at Leesville Road High School and will be moving on to college in the fall.
Due to the vast number of classes at Leesville, students have many different choices to suit their interests. “Two classes I want to sign up for are AP African-American Studies and AP Psychology,” said Sydney Singleton, freshman. AP classes are a great opportunity to show students what college will be like.
Many of the classes offered can spark students’ interest in potential future careers. Because of this, students can tailor the classes they choose to be based on an interest or potential major in college. “I would say that [I] definitely chose my classes based on a future career. My dream is to be on Broadway one day, so taking these classes is definitely going to help that. I also think in terms of writing and stuff like that so taking English classes will help me with that too,” said Johnson, junior.
The more students progress in high school, the more classes are open to choose from every year. This gives students many opportunities to try something different and step out of their comfort zone to explore new interests and new experiences. “I chose the classes I did because they are the higher level of the classes I took this year. I had a great time in all of them,” said Nate Shafer, sophomore.
When choosing classes explore the many options that Leesville has to offer, as well as exploring your own interests. The counselor’s office will be open all this week (as usual) if there are any questions and to continue signing students up for their 2025-2026 classes.
