LRHS underclassmen are registering for 2025-26 school year

Throughout the spring semester, rising freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors must complete their course registration for the upcoming school year.

In February, teachers enter recommended classes into PowerSchools based on students’ performance in specific subject areas and their potential in predicted classes.

Since then, counselors have met with students and assisted them in choosing courses. Counselors began meeting with rising seniors, then met with rising juniors, and finally rising sophomores.

Rising seniors are expected to understand the graduation requirements, and how those apply to their academic success. The only required senior credits are personal finance and economics and English 4 or AP Literature.

Class of 2026 seniors who wish to graduate early or not have all 8 courses on Leesville campus must complete and sign the forms to turn into counselors.

Rising juniors and sophomores work alongside counselors to plan their upcoming, and future courses. Junior year is often considered the most stressful year, with the most pressure to take challenging classes for college applications.

All students should understand their options for classes, and what each course entails

Student service created a helpful “To-Do List” to assist students in the process.

  1. Log on to your PowerSchool account to view your credits and teacher recommendations.
  2. Review graduation requirements.
  3. Review course information (prerequisites, class content) posted above.
  4. Talk with your parents/guardian about your class selections.
  5. Students should bring their Chromebook to their meeting with their counselor so they can review their course selections.
  6. If you wish to take a class that requires an application or audition, you may go ahead and sign up for the class. However, you will be removed from the class and placed in one of your alternates if you are not selected for the audition or application class. Be sure to communicate with any teacher whose classes requires an Application or Audition (list of teachers is below).

By the end of the process, all students should have 8 courses chosen plus 4 alternatives. Not all top choice classes are guaranteed, especially for underclassmen, so the alternatives act as backup options.

Some classes require an application, including yearbook, newspaper, advanced study, internship, early childhood education I and II, PEPI, and sports med III and IV. Other classes require auditions, such as dance, chorus, band, orchestra, theatre, and tech theatre.
