Sabrina Carpenter
From her debut in the public sector as a popular teenage actress in Girl Meets World, Sabrina Carpenter has always been a household name.
Transitioning from her career as an actress to a popular name in the music industry, Carpenter has released 8 albums, starting with her debut album Eyes Wide Open in 2015.
Short n’ Sweet (Deluxe)
Following the release of her Grammy-winning album Short n’ Sweet, Carpenter gave us a taste of her previously unreleased works alongside the album through her release of Short n’ Sweet Deluxe mid February. Featuring five new song titles published on Valentines Day, Sabrina carries a love-centered sentiment throughout the Short n’ Sweet album to her deluxe release.
The first of the new releases, “15 minutes” gives the audience a taste of Carpenter’s life following the release of Short n’ Sweet. This song dives into the fleeting sensation of fame, inspired by the phrase common saying of “15 minutes of fame”.
In this song, Sabrina expresses her frustration with fake niceties of Hollywood and people appeasing her because of her rise to fame. Stating “Where did all these parties come from? When did all you b—–s get so nicе? Running out the woodwork and Hoping there’s no brain bеtween my eyes,” Carpenter expresses her discontent with being treated differently following her immense success in the music industry.
Following “15 minutes”, Sabrina released a highly-anticipated version of her hit song “Please Please Please” featuring Dolly Parton. As an exciting variation of her hit song, “Please Please Please” featuring Dolly Parton embraces the country accents found throughout the song and takes a more conservative approach, making the feature non-explicit.
As Sabrina’s only collaboration on the project, Dolly Parton’s feature on “Please Please Please” signifies her presence in the music industry, collaborating with a well-renowned artist such as Dolly Parton. This collaboration came as a great surprise to many Sabrina Carpenter fans, as Carpenter attracts a much younger audience than Parton.
Her 3rd bonus track, “Couldn’t Make it any Harder”, introduces a new style of music to her album straying away from the heavy Pop influence of her album. The song features her impressive vocal range through a slow, melodic song. Sabrina shows her vulnerability, stating “ I couldn’t make it any harder to love me oh, one day, believe me you’ll want someone that makes it easy,”. While Sabrina tends to take a light hearted and playful approach to dating throughout her album, “Couldn’t Make It Any Harder” shows listeners that it’s okay to stay in touch with their emotions and boundaries.
Following “Couldn’t Make it any Harder”, the long awaited song “Busy Woman” details Sabrina’s humorous approach to rejection. Released as a bonus track on variants of the “Please Please Please” vinyl prior to the release of the Deluxe album, Carpenter fans eagerly anticipated the official release of the song on streaming services.
The final of the deluxe tracks on the album, “Bad Reviews” ends the album on a comforting note, depicting the shared experience so many girls feel of ignoring warning signs of an unhealthy relationship for love.
Overall, Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet Deluxe album further reflects Sabrina’s playful and bold approach to love through 5 additional tracks to the Short n’ Sweet album.
