What to expect with Leesville’s athletic conference next year

For the 2025-2026 school year, Leesville Road High School will be a part of the Cap 8A conference. This conference has new teams coming in and old teams leaving.

The current Cap 4A conference consists of Leesville, Enloe, Broughton, Athens Drive, Sanderson, and Gibbons.

Next year, Leesville will be in the CAP 8A conference with all the same teams, except Sanderson and Gibbons. Millbrook, Rolesville, Corinth Holders and Wakefield will be joining the conference.

There are some cons in the conference gaining these new teams. These teams joining this conference are strong in athletics, which could impact Leesvilles athletics and their standings.

Evan Miranda, sophomore, said, “The competition is going to be hard. The teams coming into our conference are very good at all different sports which will impact our rankings and outcomes of games.”

Other student athletes agree, but can see positives as well for this change.

Finley Lewis, sophomore, said, “These teams will be harder to beat, but that just gives us more competition and will just make us better players overall. We will learn that we have to work together to be successful and win against good competition.”

Some athletes are confident and feel ready for this new change.

Evan Brown, sophomore, said, “I agree that these teams we will be competing against are good, but I believe that we are good too and can be successful if we put in the work and work together.”
