Panic! At The Disco releases their fifth album Death of a Bachelor

Panic! at the Disco, released their new and fifth album Death of a Bachelor last week on Friday, January 15. They are an American rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2004. Since the beginning of the band, Brendon Urie, lead vocalist, is the only original remaining band member left. All of the songs on the album were written and recorded by Urie.

The first song on the album, “Victorious” is one of seven singles on the album. The song is similar to a catchy upbeat 90s pop song, with a little bit of hip-hop and pop rock-which is different from their previous sound. The lyrics are similar to the theme of the entire album-achievement, making it a great opening song. The next song and single, “Don’t Threaten Me with a Good Time” has a similar sound to Victorious, but with a slower beat and minus the popish sound.

“Hallelujah” reminds me of a church song-and not just because of the title. The song’s lyrics speak about forgiving yourself and accepting your mistakes. “Emperor’s New Clothes” is similar to “Victorious” because of the beat and the meaning behind the songs. The next single, “Death of a Bachelor” is a classical and hip-hop song, that has lots of eccentric sounds mixed in. The album ends with “Impossible Year” which is a classical and relaxing sound speaking about the hardships of Urie’s year and his outlook on the year.

Overall, the album’s sound is different from their previous ones. Personally, I think that every album’s’ sound differs from the next. Death of a Bachelor is a catchy and upbeat album mixed with classical songs. If I had to rank Panic! at the Disco’s album, Death of a Bachelor would be third after A Fever Can’t Sweat You Out and Vices & Virtues.
