Powder Puff Interest Meeting Held

On Wednesday, September 7 the Powder Puff interest meeting was held. All girls — freshman to seniors — can sign up for the football tradition that will be held this year on Tuesday, October 11 at 6:30 P.M.

Powder Puff has been a part of Leesville since 1997. “I coached freshman year, and I really enjoyed that. I think that getting involved senior year, kinda tying everything together before you leave, is really important so I just want to be as involved as possible,” said Ian Reetz, Powder Puff coach.

Practices will be held from 2:30 to 3:30 P.M. on Thursday, September 29 on the upper practice field and Wednesday, October 5 on the soccer practice field . All practices are optional but suggested if players want to learn plays or maneuvers that are going to be used in the game.

There are many great reasons to sign up for Powder Puff, in addition to the cool t-shirt. Hayden Brown, a sophomore, said, “I chose to participate in Powder Puff to get more involved with the school and make new friends.”

At the interest meeting, girls were asked to fill out two forms. One of which had basic rules of football, football game logistics, practice details, and Powder Puff jersey details. The other was a participation form that anyone wishing to participate in the game must have turned into trailer ten by 3:00 P.M. on September 15. Cheerleaders for the teams must also have these forms turned in.

“I think it’s a way for the ladies to just have a really fun time, and it’s a community event. I think it’s really cool to see people come out, and they want to support the girls having a good time,” said James Ferguson, a Powder Puff organizer.

Many Leesville girls are looking forward to the Powder Puff game especially because it was cancelled last year due to rainy weather.
