The Leesville Pride dominated the eighth ranked Pinecrest Patriots on August 31 to improve their overall record to 3-0-1. This win comes just days after consecutive victories over seventh ranked Laney and second ranked Green Hope Falcons.
Will Bowers and Fernando Castellanos each scored, and keeper Cody Beckett gave a stalwart effort to pitch the Pride’s first shutout of the season.
“Our forwards are working well together, we have the potential to be very good this season,” said Connor McNally, senior.
The Pride has won three consecutive games since stumbling against Panther Creek for the season opener.
Coach Raymond Stone believes the team has a chance to be excellent this season. “We have a chance to be a very good team. We have really good offensive skills and should become a formidable defensive team as the season progresses. [I] have high hopes for the team, but we have a very tough schedule,” Stone said via email interview.
Leesville hosts the Enloe Eagles on September 7 for their first home game of the season, where they expect the Loonies to cheer them on in full force.
Will Bennett is a remarkable staff writer who was recruited from his early days. In fact, before Bennett could even speak, the Mycenaean took serious interest in him. While many consider this practice to be unethical, the Leesville editors disagree. Alex Stewart claims that his contributions to the staff have been “Pullitzer Prize” worthy.
In addition to his writing, Bennett enjoys animals, Freshberry Frozen Yogurt, Hip-hop music, and long walks on the beach. He can often be found on his seaside estate composing original music, writing moving poetry, and balling with old basketball greats like Larry Bird and Michael Jordan.
