Future’s Nobody Safe Tour Review

On Saturday May 13, Future and other top rap artist performed at Walnut Creek in Raleigh. From the opening of the ticket sales, the concert was a huge deal to hip-hop fans, until the “star of the show” Kodak Black was arrested a few months ago. However, despite the last minute cancellation from Kodak, the show still went on with only a few bumps in the road.

The crowd began to jump in unison once the show began.

ASAP Ferg replaced Kodak, since he was awaiting trial and was unable to attend. ASAP Ferg opened the concert and performed some of his top songs, including “New Level.” His opening song performances weren’t enough to “hype up the crowd.” He was followed by Tory Lanez and Ty Dolla Signs, but their performances also fell short. The singers themselves weren’t bad vocally, but the song choice wasn’t the best.

Tory Lanez sang a few of his hits and ASAP Ferg failed to open up with a bang. It wasn’t until Migos, a group of three rappers, sang “Get Right Witcha,” and other songs, that the crowd began to go wild.

Migos was a hard act to follow. The crowd was engaged for all the songs. The songs they sang flowed perfectly as they transitioned from one hit to the next. After their final song, “Bad and Boujee,” there was a long, 30 minute, wait for Future. Everyone was losing their patience by the time the stage was set up for the next performer, Future.

By the time Future began to perform, it was dark so the lights and lasers on the stage made the performance worth the wait. The combined light show and vocals of Future made a spectacular show. His song line up was perfect for a “lit” ending. He ended with his most recent hit, Mask Off. The crowd was wild, singing, jumping, and dancing throughout the venue during the finale.

Overall, Future and Migos were the stars of the show. Although Kodak wasn’t there in person, he was there in spirit. ASAP Ferg started a chant in Kodak’s name and the crowd followed along. The show started off slowly with several pauses for stage set ups, but in the end, it was worth the wait.
