On September 14, the Leesville Food Bank Club will be participating in the Hunger Action month event at the North Carolina Governor’s mansion. At the event, the officers and a few members of the club will package family-size boxes of meals for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, as well as meet the NC Governor Roy Cooper and his wife, the first lady.
Ainsley Duke, the Leesville Food Bank Club President, is a social media ambassador for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. “I use my social media accounts to promote events for the food bank, so through this position, people at the food bank knew about me and the club at Leesville,” said Duke.
Last school year, the club participated in many events, including the Virtual Food Drive, Meals on Wheels, and the Leesville Food Drive. “[This] year, once a month on a Saturday we’re going to take a group of Food Bank Club members down to the Raleigh branch of Central and Eastern North Carolina and we are going to work in the warehouse for several hours and sorting meals into family size bags, [as] a way to help out this year,” said Duke.
