Bienvenidos Profesora Richards!

While the Leesville community was brokenhearted when Senora Sollie left at the end of last year, Profesora Richards is proving to be a worthy replacement. Even though she just began teaching the Pride on August 28, she is already shaping the Spanish department at LRHS.

Profesora Richards is from Wake Forest and graduated from ECU in May 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Hispanic Studies Education. Richards then completed her masters degree in Applied Spanish Linguistics through New York University, at its campus in Madrid, Spain.

Before teaching at Leesville, Richards spent the last two years teaching at North Lincoln High School.

Profesora Richards has always loved Spanish, even as a young child. “I have always loved learning Spanish, since I was in elementary school. In high school, while tutoring, I realized that what I enjoyed even more was helping others love and appreciate the language as much as I did. That is when I decided to study Spanish Education in college. For me, Spanish is the most beautiful language in the world. I want to share that beauty with my students,” said Richards via email.

Profesora Richards always makes sure her class understands what she is teaching. She works individually with a student in need while also making sure the rest of the class isn’t slowed down. Throughout the class, you can see the passion of Spanish through her teaching.

The students of Profesora Richards also find the class more enjoyable with Profesora Richards teaching it. “I really like Profesora Richards, she is really nice, and I can understand her really easily. She makes her class really fun,” said Jordan Blankenship-allen, sophomore.

We hope that you have a good first year Profesora Richards! Bienvenidos y buenas suerte.
