Leesville is known for their sports, from football to soccer to track and has dominated athletics in Wake County. However, one of the most underrated sports team at Leesville in the gymnastics team. From winning CAP-8 for the past three years to placing third in states just last year, the LRHS gymnastics team has dominated Wake County competitions. This year is no different.
The two senior captains of the team, Hali Christenson and Meghan Ford, are incredibly excited for the upcoming season and are proud of all the work the team has achieved so far. “We have worked so hard to get to this point, and the team is super excited to compete in CAP-7” said Ford.
Along with the captains, the team has recruited more freshmen this year than any previous year so far. Brooke Dunkley, freshmen, has been extremely grateful to be a part of the team this year. The relationships that build the team often spill over to becoming friends outside season. “ I love all my teammates! They can all put me in an energetic mood and everyone is really supportive of each other no matter if we did well or not,” said Dunkley.
Hopefully the team will continue to compete well and good luck throughout the season!
