Pride rolls to victory vs Southeast Raleigh

On Monday, September 24, Leesville Men’s Soccer Team (6-4-1, 3-1 CAP-7) looked to continue their winning streak against Southeast Raleigh, coming off a win at Broughton last week.

The game started out a little slow but picked up quickly with Leesville dominating the possession

Collin Sharp’s, sophomore, low cross to Alex Burnside, junior, who passed to Alex Stewart, junior, who dinked the ball in for an easy goal 10 minutes into the game 1-0 (9th minute)

Not more than five minutes later, Kidus Kebede worked hard to score in the 13th minute. He took the ball from two defenders in the box after a good run from Alex Stewart and hit a hard shot that deflected off the keeper’s face and slowly into the goal to make the score 2-0 Pride.

Noah Scott, senior, played well in goal and had a strong save against a hard shot by Southeast Raleigh in the 18th minute.

Leo Oliveira, junior, drew a foul on a Southeast defender and crossed the free kick to Ben Noga, senior, who hits a nice shot that slips by the post in the 33rd minute.

The pride capped off the end of the half with a goal in the last minute with a floating cross from Mohammed Qurneh, junior, to a mid-air Will Sharp, freshman, who touched the ball into the back of the net for 3-0 Leesville.

Pride continued its strength into the second half but can’t convert many early chances in the half.

After a scoreless thirty minutes, Jamie Boegel hit a nice strike into the bottom right of the goal to give Leesville their first goal of the second half in the 70th minute to make the score 4-0 Pride.

Southeast Raleigh player receives a yellow card in the 77th minute right before the game ended.

Leesville won the game 4-0 and will play Millbrook on Tuesday, September 25 because of makeup from Hurricane Florence.
